MK-677 (ibutamoren, L-163,191) is a non-peptide spiroindoline small molecule that acts as an agonist at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a, the ghrelin receptor). It is supplied here as 60 capsules of 10 mg for laboratories that need a pre-weighed solid format.
The compound was described by Merck investigators in a 1995 paper on the design and pharmacology of L-163,191, which reported growth hormone release from cultured rat pituitary cells with nanomolar potency. The receptor it targets was cloned the following year and described in Science. MK-677 is used as a reference agonist in GHS-R1a binding and signaling assays and in pituitary cell culture models.
