Sermorelin is the synthetic amidated N-terminal 1-29 fragment of human growth hormone-releasing hormone, GHRH(1-29)-NH2, the shortest fragment that retains the full receptor activity of the 44-residue parent hormone.
The 1-29 sequence was defined in the 1982 Nature paper by Rivier, Spiess, Thorner and Vale that characterized growth hormone-releasing factor and established the pituitary GH-release assay in which GHRH analogs are still compared. Sermorelin serves as the reference agonist in GHRH-receptor binding and cultured-pituitary-cell studies.
Supplied as lyophilized powder, 10 mg per vial. Store sealed vials at 2–8 °C for short-term holding and at −20 °C for long-term storage, protected from light and moisture.
