SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) is the synthetic octapeptide Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH2, a two-residue extension of acetyl hexapeptide-3 (Argireline). Both peptides are patterned on the N-terminus of SNAP-25 and are used in cosmetic science as tools for studying SNARE-complex assembly.
The SNAP-25-mimetic mechanism, in which the peptide competes with SNAP-25 for the ternary SNARE complex and interferes with vesicle docking, is described in the background to the Wang et al. study of the parent hexapeptide. SNAP-8 is used in in-vitro SNARE-assembly and dermal cell-culture assays.
Supplied as lyophilized powder, 10 mg per vial. Store sealed vials at 2–8 °C for short-term holding and at −20 °C for long-term storage, protected from light and moisture.
